Who doesn’t like a nice warm pair of socks? Think about how that feels. That’s the feeling that Hannah’s Socks wants everyone to experience.
Hannah’s Socks began because of the desire of a 4 year old girl — Hannah Turner. Hannah saw a man with no socks and knew she wanted to give him hers. That naïve, kind gesture began an organization that has distributed well over 1,000,000 pair to those in need.
Hannah’s Socks has been gathering and redistributing NEW socks to children and adults living in poverty. They distribute through churches, food pantries, shelters and yearly events such as Tools for School, Boys and Girls Club Holiday Party and several Holiday events.
As you can imagine, they are ALWAYS in need of socks. Hannah’s provides nearly 100,000 pair of socks each year, with 3,000 to 5,000 pair distributed monthly through their local partners. And, as you might guess, socks are the number one most requested item in homeless shelters. The need never stops!
How can you help? They are always looking for donors, folks to hold sock drives and sponsors for large events and fundraisers. Every little bit helps!! With the re-opening of Toledo Public Schools to in person learning, they provided close to 2,000 pair of socks to the school nurses.
With children returning to school, Hannah’s Socks is always looking for donations. Consider donating as no one should go without a warm pair of socks. To donate follow the link: http://www.hannahssocks.org/donate/
