The 2017 Brundage Award was presented to Patrick Tansey, a two-time finalist for the Jefferson Awards.  Pat has been a valuable member of Community Shares for a number of years.  He has never missed a Shares event!    He is the founder of the Collingwood Arts Center and he can be found there almost every day – ready to give a tour, make a repair, or provide a history lesson.  A volunteer with the Children’s Theatre Workshop for a number years, their theatre is named the Tansey-Zimmerman Theatre.  If that were not enough, he spends time each week, teaching women math and helping them to get their GED.

The Brundage Award honors an individual who exemplifies the best of the volunteer spirit and works on issues addressed by Community Shares’ member agencies.  The Brundage Award honors Robert Brundage, lovingly known as Dr. Bob.  Dr. Bob was a well-known figure in the Old West End.  He volunteered with many of our agencies and served on the Community Shares Board.

It celebrates Dr. Bob’s volunteer spirit, the unfailing friendship and kindness he extended to everyone he met, and his commitment to building and nurturing the community he loved.  The Brundage Award celebrates local advocates who work on any issues addressed by our member agencies, whether confronting societal or civic issues, addressing health or environmental concerns, or promoting arts and humanities.  The original portrait of Robert Brundage hangs at the Collingwood Arts Center.
